Inspiration

For a long time, we've seen people sacrifice exercise for extra time to study or work. BrainGymHub was inspired by the idea of combining these two aspects of life. We wanted to create a platform game that allows users to simultaneously keep fit and expand their knowledge, making every minute as productive as possible.

What it does

BrainGymHub is an app that integrates mini-games aimed at physical and brain activity with educational videos and streams. Users can choose the content and type of games, allowing them to improve their physical and intellectual development. The app turns ordinary workouts into an interactive and enriching pastime.

How we built it

BrainGymHub is developed using the Unity game engine and plugins to work with Meta libraries:

  • Meta XR Core SDK - which includes core features for mixed reality development such as Passthrough, Anchors, and Scene.
  • MR Utility Kit - provides a rich set of tools on top of the Scene API to perform common operations when creating spatially oriented applications.
  • Interaction SDK - package that is used for controller and hand interaction.

Challenges we ran into

One of our main goals was to ensure that video and games run smoothly without sacrificing device performance. We also tried to create an intuitive interface that would allow you to easily switch between a variety of content and mini-games without information overload.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Particularly significant for us is our success in creating a stable integration of video and game content, which provides users with a continuous and rich experience. We created two games: spot game and copycatch. With customizable game fields from 2x2 to 5x4. We have integrated our own development for video content management. Which we plan to use as a storage space for training content in the future.

What we learned

Working on BrainGymHub allowed us to deepen our knowledge in the area of user experience, especially in creating interfaces for dual tasks: training and physical activity. We also learned how to better handle asynchronous requests and multimedia processing, which was critical for the stability of the application.

What's next for BrainGymHub

In the near future, we plan to:

  1. Refine the interface for selecting training videos, so that users can even more easily find and organize video content according to their preferences and interests.
  2. Expand the lineup of mini-games to offer users even more variety and fun in their workouts so they can choose what's perfect for them.
  3. Integrate with fitness trackers to more accurately track physical activity and calculate calories burned.
