Inspiration
The project was inspired by the desire to create something that could be used in our everyday lives to help people with health complications. We wanted to make it customizable and accessible for everyone.
What it does
VitalSense is a revolutionary health monitoring system that proactively safeguards lives during medical emergencies like heart attacks, strokes, and severe allergic reactions. Our customizable platform integrates seamlessly into everyday environments, providing real-time alerts to both first responders and loved ones. When an abnormal heart rate is detected, Twilio is used to send automated calls to emergency contacts.
How we built it
Frontend: We built the frontend using React for a seamless user experience. AI Integration: Integrated with Gemini AI to analyze and interpret health data. Hardware Monitoring: Utilized Arduino for monitoring vital signs. Alerts: Implemented Twilio to send phone calls when an abnormal heart rate is detected.
Challenges we ran into
Integration Complexity: Combining different technologies (AI, hardware, and telecommunication) was challenging but rewarding. Customization & Accessibility: Balancing customizability while keeping the system user-friendly required significant thought.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud that we were able to get everything to work properly after countless hours of working through merging errors and integration issues.
What we learned
We learned a lot about React, incorporating APIs and AI into our project, and balancing multiple components like hardware and telecommunication services to create a cohesive solution.
What's next for VitalSense
Self-Driving Cars: Integrating our solution with self-driving cars to offer automatic emergency stops. Wearable Devices: Expanding into wearable health monitoring devices to provide more personalized data. Remote Monitoring Services: Offering subscription-based remote monitoring services for healthcare professionals.
