Vera is building the most powerful open financial platform for non-fungible token (NFT) assets. Vera offers decentralized financing, leasing, lending, and other essential financial services for any NFT marketplace, game, or application.
Founded in 2021 and backed by notable investors in the decentralized fintech space such as Animoca Brands (leader in blockchain gaming and NFTs; key investor in Axie Infinity, Open Sea, Dapper Labs, CryptoKitties, and much more) and the Web3 Foundation, Vera’s mission is simple: To build open, secure, and powerful NFT financial products that are equally available to everyone everywhere.
Inspiration
Today, if you want to buy an NFT on a marketplace or game, you must pay the full price in crypto and there are no financing options. Also, credit cards do not support direct NFT purchases due to the risk of theft from chargebacks and refunds. Once you own an NFT, you are limited to selling the NFT to generate income—that is if you are even able to find a buyer in the increasingly crowded NFT marketplaces. These limitations and problems cause poor user experiences and slows down the innovation and mass adoption of NFTs. Vera aims to solves these challenges on Solana, one of the fastest blockchains in the world.
How we built it
We built this on Ethereum first and now we are bringing our code to Solana.
Challenges we ran into
Building on Solana is not easy to being with as compared to Ethereum. Other challenges include building time or event-based triggers for regular payments and ensuring a simple user experience.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Our project was kicked off by being the winner of a Web3 Foundation grant Q1 2021.
- We have the key backing from Animoca Brands (leader in blockchain gaming and NFTs; key investor in Axie Infinity, Open Sea, Dapper Labs, CryptoKitties, and much more)
- We sold out our public sale IDO on Polkastarter within 1 hour.
- We have over 100K community members following us (audited to be 95% real humans) on our Twitter, Telegram, and Discord communities.
- We have partnerships with some of the largest games in the NFT gaming space such as Animoca Brand games, ChainGuardians, Highstreet, Netvrk, and Totem. Currently in discussions with Axie Infinity, YGG, Star Atlas, and several other major titles.
- We are co-sponsoring the largest NFT conference in N. America (nft.nyc) with Animoca and Chainguardians (Platinum tier) and will be an opening day keynote speaker
- We completed coding all our DeFi smart contracts on Ethereum to enable NFT financing, renting and lending.
- We have completed a decentralized lending PoC on Solana and are now working on Solana NFT renting and financing.
What we learned
We learned how well organized Solana is working with its community and developers and how much overwhelming demand exists from our partners for NFT DeFi on Solana!
What's next for Vera
Our team wants to make Vera the easiest way for anyone to finance, rent, and lend NFTs minted on any blockchain especially Solana NFTs!
