Inspiration

Our biggest inspiration was our home city, Bogota. The last few months we've had the opportunity to visit some of the most famous places, but we have also discovered incredible places, with interesting stories and beautiful artwork, but with a terrible problem: very few people know about them. With Rewind , we want to give people the opportunity to get to know their cities in depth. Not just the same two or three famous places crowded with tourists, but those charming corners that are worth visiting, giving them a description of each one through gamification, where by visiting a destination you can learn more about it and discover the location of the next work of art. We believe that art is not only reflected in the materiality of a painting, instead, we think that traveling and getting to know each city, show us the culture in a way that a museum could not fully capture.

What it does

Rewind is a web application where users can discover new places through gamification. You must search for works of art in your city, and scan the corresponding QR code to unlock the next point on your trip. When you finish your journey, you'll be able to collect a price.

How we built it

We made the mockups with Figma and then we built the webpage using React and Tailwind. For user login and saving data, we used Firebase.

Challenges we ran into

Our biggest challenge was to answer how we can make people interested in art again in an era of ephemeral emotions and immediacy. Our answer was to give a north to the user, it is much more rewarding to follow a path and see your progress than to move forward without a clear goal, combining the rewarding of discovery and the comfort of following a path.

On a technical level, the biggest challenge was creating the chatbot, because neither of us had ever made one before and we had less than a day left. However, with the help of a couple of YouTube videos, ChatGPT and a lot of trial and error we were able to pull it off.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

What we are most proud of is the speed with which we managed to get the project out. In less than 4 days we managed to do more than we could have ever imagined, in the end the pressure to finish and the fun of competing helped us to get Rewind out in record time.

What we learned

We have learned several things, however we highlight the fact of learning to perceive trends, such as investment experiences, and events that create a unique experience with each person, to be able to redefine important aspects such as culture and art around the world. We also learned to harmoniously use new technologies and traditional sites such as museums and national exhibitions.

What's next for Rewind

Rewind is projected to be implemented internationally. To make it last over time, we plan to create an event in which for each route completed, people can receive support collectible, and thus not only encourage culture and art, but also tourism, since at each site there will be a different route, with different prizes. We also see the possibility of implementing artificial intelligence to create routes that adhere to user preferences. We would be able to include more art sites, also helping its expansion.
