Inspiration

Visiting parks and nature spots is fun. You take a picture, relish in the fresh air maybe have a picnic and you're done. Now comes the awkward silence or the pointless stories. That's where treasure trails comes in. What if you had a fun activity you could engage in. Something fun that engages both your body and mind. A scavenger hunt

What it does

Treasure trails is a fun scavenger hunting app in AR powered by google AR Core and Cesium. The app is a fun game that allows users to explore nature and engage both their minds and body in navigating the clues and finding the final treasure. The app provides an immersive experiences for individuals, teams and friends to engage in. It can be used by individuals, friend groups and corporate staff looking for team building activities. Engage your mind and body in the fun of Treasure Trails.

How we built it

We used unity to quickly come up with the prototype. We made designs on Figma. Did the modelling on Maya and built the website using React Js.

Challenges we ran into

  1. Time to build the prototype. We heard of the hackathon 10 days to the deadline. We had to ideate and come up with a prototype in this short window of time. Burning the midnight oil!
  2. The black screen of death. At first the app showed a black screen instead of the camera view. We worked around this technical challenge by installing compatible versions of the package and unity.
  3. We had a skill gap we needed to fill by learning fast as none of us had used Unity before.
  4. We had Android Gradle unity errors while installing the app. We fixed this by adding an android user key store to the app.
  5. Our Play store developer account was set on hold due to identity verification issues.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  1. Collaborating together to come up with the application
  2. Building the entire application in 10 days.
  3. Having users try out our app in real time

What we learned

  1. We learnt how to use Unity with google AR core.
  2. Using Cesium Js and Cesium on Unity.
  3. What geospatial tiles are and how to use them.
  4. The difference between VPS and GPS.

What's next for Treasure Trails

  1. We plan to add more interactivity to the game.
  2. Add a customizing feature to allow people to custom create their own scavenger hunt.
  3. As VPS spreads, we can bring the fun indoors.
  4. As we get better we plan to add NFTs to the game and reward player accordingly for their scavenging efforts.
  5. We plan to add support for the web
