Inspiration

The inspiration behind the Time Traveler's Guide stemmed from my fascination with history and travel. I wanted to create a tool that would empower users to explore the rich tapestry of historical sites around the world, providing them with curated information and insights to enhance their travel experiences.

What it does

The Time Traveler's Guide is a user-friendly application that allows users to delve into the history of various iconic landmarks and historical sites. Users simply enter the name of a location they wish to explore, and the app provides detailed information about that place, including its historical significance, notable features, and location.

How we built it

I built the Time Traveler's Guide using Python and Streamlit for the user interface and Snowflake Artic for historic data. Streamlit's intuitive framework allowed us to create a clean and interactive user interface, complete with input fields, buttons, and sidebar navigation.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges I encountered was ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the historical data for each location.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud of creating a user-friendly and easy to maintain application that makes exploring historical sites both educational and enjoyable.

What we learned

Starting from scratch, I dove into Snowflake and Streamlit for the Time Traveler's Guide project, technologies I'd never used before. Through trial and error, I gradually mastered data management and user interface design, discovering the power of curiosity and persistence in learning new skills.

What's next for Time Traveler's Guide

In the future, I envision expanding the Time Traveler's Guide to include additional features such as interactive maps, photo galleries, and virtual tours. I also plan to continuously update and enrich the database with new historical sites and curated content, ensuring that users always have access to the latest information and insights.
