Inspiration
In rural areas, many women are unaware of health issues like PCOD/PCOS, contributing to significant mortality rates in South India. Ultrasound machinery, crucial for diagnosis, is often inaccessible and costly. To bridge this gap, we developed a machine learning-powered platform. It empowers women to self-assess for PCOD/PCOS, eliminating the need for expensive scans. Additionally, it offers menstrual cycle tracking and video consultations, ensuring comprehensive healthcare support for underserved communities.
What it does
Our platform provides seamless access to healthcare for rural women. With the help of community health workers, women can easily book appointments with nearby doctors and attend virtual consultations from home. It also offers comprehensive menstrual cycle tracking, enabling proactive management of reproductive health and aiding family planning efforts.
How we built it
We utilized Django for backend development, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS for frontend, and Postgres for database management. This tech stack facilitated rapid development, scalability, and ensured a user-friendly and feature-rich platform.
Challenges we ran into
Ensuring the accuracy of our machine learning models without ultrasound machinery was a significant challenge. Integrating various functionalities like video consultations and menstrual cycle tracking into a cohesive platform also posed technical and logistical hurdles.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully developed a comprehensive platform addressing critical healthcare needs for rural women. Our achievement lies in leveraging technology and community networks to bridge the gap in access to PCOD/PCOS detection and healthcare services. The seamless integration of features reflects our commitment to user-centric design.
What we learned
the project provided insights into machine learning applications in healthcare diagnostics and the importance of user-friendly interfaces. We gained experience in navigating healthcare systems and community engagement strategies.
What's next for Telegynaec
We aim to expand the platform's reach, enhance capabilities with personalized health recommendations, and collaborate with local healthcare organizations and government agencies to further streamline access to essential services for rural women.
