Inspiration🐳
Soundscape was born from a blend of passion for music, a touch of outdoor boredom, and a desire to create something both innovative and impactful. With the realization that our environments could be enhanced by personalized soundtracks, we set out to develop an application that would transform everyday settings into dynamic, musical landscapes based on location and individual preferences. Our goal was to revitalize outdoor experiences, making them more engaging and fulfilling through the power of tailored audio environments.
What it does❓
Soundscape offers a unique solution that seamlessly combines location-based audio tailoring with real-time adaptive music generation. Utilizing GPS and preference data ensures a continually fresh and engaging listening experience. Users can experience a range of soundscapes, from calming nature melodies at a park to upbeat rhythms in urban settings, each crafted through a sophisticated AI-driven composition engine. Soundscape suggests new tracks for users to listen to, and can potentially incorporate social features, allowing users to discover and share popular soundscapes within their community.
How we built it 🛠️
We harnessed the power of cutting-edge audio synthesis (Meta AI) and machine learning to construct Soundscape’s adaptive music engine. We integrated APIs for real-time location tracking and user preference analysis, feeding this data into our algorithm to dynamically generate sound. The backend is greatly optimized by both Google and Intel Cloud, ensuring scalability and responsiveness. The app’s Flutter frontend delivers a sleek, intuitive interface that makes it extremely easy for users to enjoy Soundscape.
Challenges we ran into 😣
Developing an algorithm capable of real-time music generation that could adapt to both contextual and personal data was a complex challenge. The biggest challenge was addressing the latency from the music crafting models while also streaming them together to remove any awkward pauses.

What we learned 🤔
The project deepened our understanding of AI agents (Fetch AI), algorithmic composition (orchestrating a plethora of API calls), and Python scripting. We also enhanced our skills in user interface design by using Flutter, a framework that was new to us. LA Hacks has been a profound journey into the intersection of technology, creativity, and user experience design!
