Inspiration
We saw the growing homeless problem in LA, and decided to try and solve it. After some research, we found out that a major part of the problem was lack of homeless shelters to house people.
What it does
Our service allows homeless shelters and similar organizations to easily expand. Through our website, they can find abandoned buildings to transform.
How we built it
The base of our website is Google Sites, where our team collaborated and created ShelterWeb. Each team member incorporated their own styles and methods to make the website the best version of itself.
Challenges we ran into
Our main roadblock was at the beginning of the project, where we had a difficult time deciding on an idea to build.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Making a functional and aesthetically pleasing website finishing the project knowing everyone put their best effort intricate details in each example of the website
What we learned
homelessness was actually much more of a colossal task to tackle, contrary to what some of us believed. We also learned that lack of shelters played an important role in this, and it was a commonly overlooked problem.
What's next for ShelterWeb
We hope to extend our services to cover more of America, so that homeless shelters around thee country can use our help to expand their operations.
