Inspiration

We had a specific idea that we wanted to build something for happy memories. With this, we wanted to have users access the product most easily and so, we chose to create an app that keeps our happy memories.

What it does

With the simple features, title, date, and picture, it is very quick and convenient to upload the post for the future. After signing in, users can access past Polaroid-like posts and add a new post.

How we built it

Using Expo and React-Native, we created the app and different pages, and using JavaScript, we coded the backend part of keeping the data and accessing the photo library and also coded the frontend part of formatting posts and images. For the front end, we also used Nativewind to improve the user interface and user experience.

Challenges we ran into

We were struggling with accessing photos from user's phones when they uploaded photos. However, through going through many tutorials and mentorships, we figured it out and users are now able to access any photos they want in their photo library to share memories in the post.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

While accessing ios photo library was a big struggle, we are very proud of this achievement. In addition, we are also proud of creating and formatting Polaroid-like posts.

What we learned

For most of us, it was our first time working with react-native and expo. However, while creating this app, we learned a lot about implementing the features we wanted. It was a huge learning curve for all of us to create this app.

What's next for Scrapbook

We want to make a collaboration feature and implement Google Calendar API to be able to let groups share their memories and plans.
