Rams Pantry

The Little Ram Pantry at Virginia Commonwealth University is a testament to the importance of free food access to college students. Data visualization was used to examine its usage.

Inspiration

We were inspired by the food insecurity across campuses nationwide and wanted to show the importance of free food accessibility.

What it does

Visualizes the data of Little Ram Pantries across the VCU campuses

How we built it

Using Rstudio to graph the data and HTML to build a data map to visualize the graphs and other data.

Challenges we ran into

Rstudio was very undocumented and we had relatively little experience in these languages

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Building a functional map and graphs that looks visually appealing ang easy to use

What we learned

How often Little Ram Pantries are used and how necessary they are, as well as how to use R and HTML better

What's next for Rams Pantry

To expand further on campus and across other campuses so that those with food insecurity can have mroe access to necessary food.
