Inspiration
One of our major inspirations was the lack of motivation surrounding productivity. There are amazing solutions out there, but alot of them are complicated, boring, or require a large amount of effort and are unengaging. We aim to resolve these issues through our appplication.
What it does
It acts as a Pomodoro timer for students to get the most optimal studying done. We've incorporated an emotional investment element to Sheryl the cute bunny to increase engagement between the student, the application, and their motivation to study.
How we built it
The application was build using React, Typescript, and Redux. All drawings were made by us for this Hackathon.
Challenges we ran into
Some challenges was the Timer state management, drag and drop, creating animation for the drawings, creating the drawings and getting familiar with React and the supporting technologies.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of the drag and click immplementation of the carrot. It took a large amount of effort to figure out the logic. Also the bunny is cute :))
What we learned
We have learnt the importance of time management , proper planning and idealisation in the initial stages of a project. If a clear vision of the application was not achieved then we would not have been able to make it as far as we did.
What's next for Pomopet
We hope to increase the number of pets available, customisation for the user, houses, furniture. We want the pomopet to be unique to each user so they feel akin to the pet.
