Inspiration
Our inspiration for creating this meditation app is from our first hand experience and benefits of meditation and our wanting to share this powerful tool with others. In our fast-paced world, many people struggle with stress and mental health issues, and we saw an opportunity to make mindfulness accessible through technology. By developing a user-friendly app, our goal is to help individuals integrate meditation into their daily lives, promoting inner peace and emotional balance.
What it does
User can select/ search for meditation of their choice from list of guided meditation.
How we built it
We found a public dataset and decided to use it. We used fastapi to make api endpoints. We used React with Material UI to build good looking UI. Use deployed the backend in render.com.
Challenges we ran into
First we had decided to fine tune a ML model using a custom dataset. But we were unable to deploy the model online due to high price. So we decided to pivot our idea into making a meditation app.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to pivot and make a better looking useful app with a public dataset available.
What we learned
We did learn new technologies. Besides new technologies we learnt how to work together in teams. Even though we failed to achieve machine learning deployment we did learn a lot about working with machine learning models and datasets.
What's next for PB&J
Make better looking UI and improve UX. Introduce more features like speech instructions and introduce personalized meditations.
