Inspiration
Selecting classes can be difficult. This is an attempt to guide students and prospective students to classes that meet their interests and degree requirements.
What it does
It uses GPT trained on OMSCS information to answer questions about classes, including requirements, related classes, student reviews, and more.
How we built it
We used Open AI assistant trained on OMSCS documents. It uses a React frontend. We started by feeding it information from the OMSCS website and OMSCentral.
Challenges we ran into
Calling the API from within React was challenging.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We have a complete project that meets our objection. It could be trained better and tuned, but it is working.
What we learned
We should have used a backend like Python so API keys don't get exposed. We also learned a little React and some about the Open AI API.
