Inspiration

As job seekers ourselves, we experienced the frustration of tailoring resumes to specific job descriptions and wished for a more efficient solution. Thus, we conceived the idea for NYTRR (Not Your Technical Resume Recommender), a Chrome plugin that simplifies the resume selection process by identifying the best-matched resume for a given job description.

What it does

NYTRR is a platform that simplifies the job application process. It does so by analyzing resumes uploaded by job seekers and comparing them to the job descriptions provided by employers. Once a user logs in, they receive immediate feedback through a Chrome plugin that displays the resume that matches the job description the best, along with a confidence score. To determine the accuracy of the match, NYTRR leverages the power of VertexAI and Gemini Pro models and employs cosine similarity from the sci-kit package.

How we built it

We built NYTRR using web technologies and seamlessly integrated it into the Chrome browser. By leveraging web scraping techniques, natural language processing algorithms, and machine learning models, we are able to accurately match resumes to job listings. The user-friendly interface provides easy access to match results, which enhances the job search experience.

Challenges we ran into

While developing, we faced challenges in fine-tuning machine learning models for accurate resume compatibility assessment. We also had to overcome technical hurdles to ensure seamless integration with the Chrome browser while maintaining performance.

We are proud of developing a user-friendly solution that tackles a common problem for job seekers. NYTRR's capacity to offer practical insights and simplify the resume selection process exemplifies our dedication to empowering users in their job search expedition.

What we learned

During the development of NYTRR, we gained experience in web development, machine learning, and browser extension development. We also learned the importance of user feedback in refining and enhancing our product to better meet the needs of our target audience.

What's next for NYTRR

In the future, we aim to enhance the capabilities of NYTRR by integrating additional AI algorithms. This will help us provide even more precise resume matching services. To improve our services further, we also plan to incorporate user feedback mechanisms. Moreover, we aim to expand compatibility with popular job search platforms. Our goal is to offer a comprehensive solution for job seekers worldwide.
