Inspiration
I really wanted to work on my environment art skills and was looking for something to inspire me. Eventually I ran across this piece of concept art by Yiwen Li.. https://www.artlex.com/blog/environment-concept-art-ideas/
What it does
3D environmental Piece can be used for a level and or just set dressing for backgrounds
How we built it
Autodesk Maya for 3D modeling the structures, Substance Sampler for creating the specific stone material, Substance Painter for Texturing, Finally a lot of work assembling in Unreal Engine!
Challenges we ran into
First time working with splines and creating animated textures was oof what a time for work.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The Particle Systems and all different effects going all coming together nicely (My first time working with Unreal's Niagara particle system.
What we learned
Unreal is really cool :')
What's next for Hellscape
For it to live in my portfolio and hopefully soon get to create another environment that surpasses it!
