Inspiration
The inspiration behind GeoRank Finder came from observing the struggles that local businesses face in understanding and improving their visibility on Google Maps. Many small to medium enterprises know that local SEO can significantly impact their discoverability, yet they lack the tools to analyze their performance accurately. Our aim was to create a straightforward, user-friendly platform that not only reveals how a business is ranked but also shows how this ranking varies within the immediate vicinity.
What it does
GeoRank Finder allows users to enter the name of their business along with a relevant keyword to see their Google Maps ranking at their specific location. After this initial search, the tool automatically checks the ranking of the business within a 1 km radius in each of the four cardinal directions, providing a comprehensive view of the business's visibility in nearby areas. This is especially useful for understanding and strategizing local SEO efforts.
How I built it
The tool was developed using React for the frontend to ensure a responsive, interactive user interface. On the backend, I integrated the Google Places API to fetch real-time data based on user queries. The application architecture was designed to be scalable and efficient, handling multiple user requests simultaneously without compromising speed or accuracy.
Challenges I ran into
One of the main challenges was ensuring accurate and timely retrieval of data from Google Places API, particularly when managing simultaneous requests over a broad area.
