Inspiration
Our team is greatly passionate about space and technology, which motivated us to explore satellite-related applications.
What it does
Our application retrieves satellite data using an Android phone equipped with an app that analyzes and presents some of this data. Additionally, we use an Influx database to store this information to then plot it on Grafana.
How we built it
We initiated the project by dividing it into functional sections, each responsible for different aspects of data processing and visualization, such as the front-end (with Android Studio) or the back-end (with influx and Grafana).
Challenges we ran into
We encountered errors in Kotlin and in integrating with Grafana/Influx, which caused significant delays in the project's development.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Despite having minimal prior knowledge about app development, we managed to create a semi-functional one with quite an effort and dedication, which we consider a major achievement.
What we learned
We learned to properly interact with non-relational databases, a field that was previously unfamiliar to us. We also gained considerable knowledge in Kotlin and deepened our understanding of Grafana.
What's next for GNSS-TRACKER
We plan to enhance and expand the application's visual interface, plot more data, divide it into sections and perhaps give some explanations (easy/medium/engineer). Another aspect of the project that excites us and which we are especially interested and proud is the data analysis on Grafana..
