Mobility is an integral part of everyone's life. According to statistics, there is one death in four minutes due to a road accident in India. Our app solution will enable effective design, engineering and delivery of Chainlink, Flow and Theta blockchain technology, SAP Hana and Ui5 to make roads safer, sustainable and better using predictive analytics and automation for incident reporting and reduction in hazardous transportation with capabilities pluggable and extendable to 5 different personas: Driver, Police, Citizen, Dispatcher, Admin. Chainlink, Flow, Theta blockchain technology will enable Transport DeFi (decentralized finance) required for immediate assistance at the road incident site via lending, insurance and donations module for the citizen user role.

Our solution will benefit: Police Force - 360 degrees access of the incidents to the action/ administration team. They can manage the complete lifecycle of incident reporting, overall status, traffic monitoring, managing police teams. Using machine learning they can also predict the incident occurrence at any area. This will help in taking necessary actions in advance to control the traffic. They can also use the solution for effective utilization of staff members and provide road safety counselling.

Connected vehicles for efficiency and sustainability. We are extending and adapting our platform for connected vehicles for sustainability and efficiency. We are currently working on a dataset of 15000 trips, 45+ trucks and 175+ drivers and enabling organizations to achieve better in fleet management on Theta blockchain.

Ministry of Road and Transportation: Endeavor to change the car accident scenario by use of car technology to make driving safer and monitored for drivers, authorities, as well as other 3rd parties. With a mix of hardware and software, we will provide intelligent feedback about drive quality and help analyze past incidents, as well as predict future incidents.

Citizens and Cab aggregators: Reduction in the number of road accidents.

Insurance Companies: Aggregated/ anonymized driving data and incident data will be helpful to car insurance companies.

OEMs and Dealerships: Vehicle diagnostics and in-car service consumption will be helpful for OEMs and Dealerships.

Smart Cities Policy Makers/ Government: Real time traffic flow, incident alert and parking data will be enable safer roads.

Advertisers: Customers/driver demographics will be available.

Fleet customers: fleet performance, compare against competition.

What it does

Our technical solution enables driver monitoring, incident management and collision avoidance: Incident-based reporting & Collision detection (even when a vehicle is parked) and video footage associated with it. Video footage for abnormal driver behavior (complete view of the car with 2 cameras – front and back and open source video streaming), real-time alert and live streaming using open source solutions.

Any abnormal behavior/activity can be displayed on the smart dashboard in the vehicle.

Built-in GPS technology useful in fleet management and tracking. Black box car tracking to be able to pre-empt and diagnose breakdowns more quickly. Recognition area built in the central control to pick up your body movements, GAIT analysis Vehicles become IoT devices which can connect to smartphones, take voice commands, change the user interface.

The decentralized Cloud-Connected Car Drives IoT Monetization. Real-time access to car availability and mobile connectivity enables better decisions making systems.

Chainlink and Theta Blockchain: We are utilizing Chainlink and Theta blockchain for our monitoring solution as follows:

  1. Chainlink Blockchain for renting ambulances at the road incident sites: Borrowing funds by private and public sector mobility organizations and cab aggregators for community ambulances using collaterals. We allow community or civic organizations to set up an account, send funds, and apply for extra ambulances or emergency vans using collaterals.

  2. We are further utilizing a data analytics OSS tool powered by SocialCalc for managing information and payments to emergency service providers, maintenance and repair servicemen and also insurance and cab aggregator providers for availing their services on Chainlink, Theta blockchain.

  3. We wish to enable tabulation, data organization and management, in an easy-to-use analysis tool that summarizes core data and features of a Token or NFT such as chains used, origin, issuer, energy consumption, and minting method. We also wish to enable private payments for vehicle repair. We will utilzing DAOtooling modules using Chainlink, Theta blockchain along with SocialCalc spreadsheet module.

Flow Blockchain: We are utilizing Flow Blockchain with Chainlink services for the following requirements:

  1. USDC enablement with Cadence: We are utilizing USDC implementation using Cadence smart contracts mainly for Government organizations, who would only prefer to use USDC stable coin for providing government subsidies for greener fuel and pollution check credits. Government organizations can send a USDC from source-chain to destination-chain and distribute it equally among all accounts specified for subsidy or reimbursement using call contract with token. Cross chain lending platform: We can supply collateral and borrow tokens from a satellite chain to a fork of Ethereum's mainnet using existing Compound Protocol.

  2. Niftory's APIs and wallet apis: We are using Niftory's API to develop no code, low code analytics tooling using an open source analytics and visualization tool, namely SocialCalc, which enables tabulation, organization, collaboration, visualization, graphing and charting. We are utilzing wallet apis for sending NFTs and facilitate peer to peer payments for service, repair and procurement/replenishment of spare parts.

  3. FlowNS: We are using FlowNS to develop an NFT storefront and marketplace for NFTs representing NFC tags of vehicle spare parts provided by government agencies (example GeM portal). This enables on-demand availability of spare parts and prevents counterfieting of expensive, repairable spare parts at functional locations. Further, it enables optimaly inventory management and allocation at all repair sites.

  4. We are extending and adapting the Flow blockchain project to enable cross blockchain interoperability and transaction management with Ethereum and Filecoin/IPFS storage. Also, we are extending the project for L2 technologies like Metis to develop rollup capabilities to use decentralize NFT voting for incident investigative system. We are also adapting our solution to enable development of composable, programmatic blocks to generate NFT and ease of identity management using Filecoin Virtual Machine. In this aspect, we are generating an NFT for NFC tags for vehicles and spare parts at the time of service and repair workflows. Identity management, ability to extend the solution and reducing misinformation at the time of Incident analysis and reporting are the key reasons for experimenting with Flow and extending its interoperability and eco-system with key Layer 1 and Layer 2 blockchains and programmatic, composable Filecoin virtual machine.

  5. Flowty: We are learning to integrate SocialCalc analytics tooling with flowty rental services to enable availability of car on rent for inter-state travel of passengers, who need accessibility services or need to travel for getting healthy or medical treatment. We are also learning to use secondary marketplace of flowty with SocialCalc to enable sharing of intermiles or fuel miles which can be redeemed in various ecommerce stores. Further, we are trying to use its loan contract services with SocialCalc to enable e-auto drivers to get loans for agencies to fund their commercial vehicles in emergency needs (example Covid Crisis time frame).

How we built it

We have developed a road incident management system using Javascript, HTML5, SAP's UI5 on the front end, Chainlink, Flow, Theta blockchain, scrypto on Radix wallet for lending crypto payments, efficiency and sustainability of the connected EV vehicles, open source video streaming system and donations, insurance module enabled by scrypto on Radix, Chainlink, Flow and Theta blockchain. We are also using it for enabling sharing of government assets like toll prepaid card, car details information for interstate travel, driving license management and quarterly pollution check and control powered by SocialCalc.

Wish to share that Transport Monitor project is focused towards strategic fleet management issues and how we can improve connected vehicles for sustainability.

Early stage detection of fleet incidents: We are using NLP API for solving multiple challenges in investigative case management for the admin role: sentiment analysis of a particular incident at the road for the admin role, social media text mining for an incident and classification of the incidents, early stage incident reponse and prevention.

Challenges we ran into

  1. The insurance providers have to manually upload the incident and vehicle data to create the insurance based NFT. It is not a problem for a small set of vehicles where we can use csv to json conversion using open source libraries like phpexcel in ethercalc but problematic for larger number of vehicles. At this juncture, the insurance providers have to manually connect their wallet and create the insurance claim NFT.

  2. Understanding Chainlink services, Flow blockchain, scrypto on Radix and how it can be used for a consortium involving government, citizen, police, dispatcher and admin.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

DeFi using Chainlink, Flow, Theta Blockchain, scrypto on Radix enables everyone to get access to financial assistance in case of road incidents, which leads to better transportation eco-system. It is a big enabler for the government and its citizens towards building safer and better transportation systems.

A greater and more seamless flow of information within a transportation infrastructure, created by electronic incident record management service (E.I.R.M.S), encompasses and leverages digital progress and can transform the way road safety can be delivered and efforts sustained.

E.I.R.M.S helps in improved coordination E.I.R.M.S helps in making road safety ecosystem proactive and authentic. E.I.R.M.S with the help of computer aided detection will help in early prediction and prevention of incidents.

What we learned

We can utilize SocialCalc, Machine Learning Models coupled with decentralized Chainlink, Flow, Theta blockchain services for lending and DeFi. We also witnessed the great eco-system available to developers to learn and contribute in the Radix eco-system.

What's next for Transport Intel

We still need focus on key performance indicators like throughput and measure the performance of our modules before moving to production.

We need to improve the EV Charging Monitoring software to include dashboards for fleet managers, dashboards for improving efficiency and sustainability of connected vehicles and thereby improving transportation and road eco-system.

We need to deploy Chainlink blockchain contracts and scrypto on Radix network for renting ambulances at the road incident sites in production: Borrowing Radix funds by private and public sector mobility organizations and cab aggregators for community ambulances using collaterals. We allow community or civic organizations to set up an account, send funds, and apply for extra ambulances or emergency vans using collaterals.
