Inspiration ๐Ÿ’ก

We are a team of sci-fi enthusiasts who love to explore the possibilities of the future. We wanted to create a virtual reality experience that would immerse the users in a realistic and futuristic space colony, where they can interact with the environment, the inhabitants and the story.

What it does ๐ŸŽฎ

Elysium Colony is a VR/MR/XR compatible game that lets the users explore a sci-fi space colony on a distant planet. The game features stunning graphics, dynamic lighting, realistic physics and spatial audio. The users can choose their own path and actions, affecting the outcome of the game. The game also supports multiplayer mode, where the users can collaborate or compete with other players online.

How we built it ๐Ÿ—๏ธ

We used Unity as our main game engine, and integrated various tools and assets to create the game. We used Blender and Maya for 3D modeling and animation, Substance Painter and Photoshop for texturing, FMOD for sound design and Oculus SDK/ PICO SDK for VR integration. We also used Photon for networking and Firebase for database.

Elysium Colony is a sci-fi space colony simulation game that lets you explore, build, and manage your own settlement on a distant planet. You can customize your colony with various structures, vehicles, and equipment, as well as interact with other colonists and aliens.

To make the game more immersive and realistic, we have integrated two PICO SDKs in our demo app and design document:

  • PICO Sence Pack: This is the all-in-one solution for PICO Mixed Reality development, providing innovative features like space calibration and spatial anchors. With this SDK, we can create a seamless blend of virtual and real environments, allowing the player to move around and interact with the game world as if they were there.

  • PICO Interaction Pack: This SDK enables hand tracking features, which optimize algorithms, support Unity's XR Hands pack, and comply with the OpenXR standard. With this SDK, we can give the player more natural and intuitive ways to control the game, using gestures and motions instead of buttons and joysticks.

We believe that these two SDKs will enhance the gameplay experience and make Elysium Colony stand out from other sci-fi space colony games. We hope you enjoy our demo app and design document, and we look forward to your feedback.

Challenges we ran into โš™๏ธ

One of the biggest challenges we faced was optimizing the game for VR/MR/XR platforms, as they have different requirements and limitations. We had to balance the quality and performance of the game, and make sure it runs smoothly on different devices. We also had to deal with some bugs and glitches that occurred during the development process.

Accomplishments that we're proud of ๐Ÿ†

We are proud of creating a game that showcases our passion and creativity for sci-fi and VR/MR/XR. We are proud of the level of detail and immersion we achieved in the game, and the feedback we received from the users. We are also proud of overcoming the challenges and learning new skills along the way.

What we learned ๐Ÿซ

We learned a lot about game development, especially for VR/MR/XR platforms. We learned how to use various tools and assets to create a realistic and interactive game environment. We learned how to optimize the game for different devices and platforms. We also learned how to work as a team and communicate effectively.

What's next for Elysium Colony (Sci-Fi Space Colony) VR/MR/XR Compatible ๐Ÿš€

We plan to continue developing and improving the game, adding more features and content. We want to expand the story and the gameplay options, making it more engaging and diverse. We also want to reach more users and platforms, making the game more accessible and enjoyable.
