The EcoConnect's ai chatbot, which gives user personalized recommendations on transforming their daily habits to be more sustainable, is inspired by EarthNet's chatbot, which guides users on creating their climate sustainability projects.

What it does

Personal Climate Action Plan EcoConnect is for everyone. It tailors sustainability recommendations to your unique lifestyle. The user inputs their current lifestyle and factors that contribute to their personal carbon footprint, such as diet, transportation, location, and clothing choice. Then, through a calculator, EcoConnect provides the user with achievable short-term and long-term goals to make their habits more sustainable. From reducing plastic waste to choosing renewable energy sources, our personalized climate plans empower you to take meaningful steps. Once you start taking action, EcoConnect records your everyday progress, so you can clearly see your improvement day by day, week by week.

Community Formation Sustainability is a team effort. With EcoConnect, you join a vibrant community of eco-conscious individuals. Users can share daily sustainable act with EcoSnap, learn from others, and inspire each other. Whether it’s a simple tip for reducing water usage or a major lifestyle shift, your actions ripple through our global network.

How we built it

Backend AI chatbot is built using Microsoft's Azure OpenAI Services Frontend demo is built using HTML. Frontend will be built using Java (for Android users) and Swift (for Apple users)

Challenges we ran into

Training the AI was very time consuming, and it was also difficult adjusting parameters to ensure the AI chatbot provides consistent responses. During primary survey, others gave constructive feedback on the risks and concerns they have if they were to use EcoConnect. It was challenging to mitigate those risks and find a balance between uniqueness and functionality.

What's next for EcoConnect

Continue to work on the backend and train the AI. Develop the app's UI to make it look more appealing. Conduct more secondary and primary surveys for market validation and gain valuable feedback from mentors.
