Inspiration
Games like Realm Of Mad God and Vampire Survivors
What it does
Our game is played on one level with increasing difficulty of enemies, with plenty of ways for the player to get stronger too.
How we built it
We used Godot 4.2 to program the game, Photoshop for visual assets, and the internet for sound effects.
In order to create the insane amount of assets Nico fixed up images generated by Adobe Photoshop’s built in generative fill.
To form the basics of our level we generated tiles, borders, and obstacles and made sure to polish them up.
We used the generated images as a reference and drew key-frame images to create walking, attacking, and effects.
For example, to create the sword animation we had to draw warped versions of the sword To make our game even more polished, I implemented sound effects found on the web. Examples of sound effects: Player Dash, Sword, Walk, Fireball
In order to optimize our time, we chose to create rather simple enemies. For example: Ghost (has no legs so no complicated animations) Fire Golem (doesn’t move around, only shoots projectiles)
In order to fit the theme of the event, we made our game on one floor of the dungeon with increasing difficulty Although, only one level we added plentiful decorations to make the dungeon feel worthwhile.
Was there an attempt made by your project to create a societal impact?
No.
Is your art work original (AI art is will not be accepted as original art work)?
No, we use AI generation tools to create our assets.
Challenges we ran into
Most of us were first time hack-thon and game jam participants. Godot didn't want to recognize the correct naming of files.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We made an although simple game but pretty well polished for the time we had available.
What we learned
We learned the Godot program, sleep is unnecessary, teamwork, and resilience.
What's next for Dungeon Delve Hooded Blu
We might polish the game even more and venture into the mobile game market.
