Inspiration

This website was made due to our experience within the workforce. We wanted it to be similar to a matchmaking app like Tinder because of its innovative and simple way to match 2 entities together.

What it does

It requires you to do a quiz that evaluates your skills and experiences then after uses AI to generate a job career best for you.

How we built it

We built Career Matchmaker using a combination of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the front-end interface. For the back-end functionality, we utilized Node.js with Express for handling server requests and responses. We also integrated the OpenAI API to generate personalized career recommendations based on the user's quiz responses.

Challenges we ran into

During the development process, we encountered several challenges, including integrating the OpenAI API effectively to generate accurate career recommendations based on the user's quiz responses. We also faced difficulties in designing an intuitive and user-friendly interface that guides users through the quiz process seamlessly. Overcoming these challenges required extensive collaboration, problem-solving, and iterative testing to ensure a polished final product.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Despite the challenges, we're proud to have created a functional and user-friendly platform that provides valuable career insights to users. Additionally, we achieved our goal of designing an intuitive and engaging interface that enhances the user experience and encourages participation in the quiz.

What we learned

Throughout the development of Career Matchmaker, we learned valuable lessons in web development, user experience design, and API integration. We gained hands-on experience in working with modern web technologies, implementing complex algorithms, and handling server-side interactions. Moreover, we learned the importance of effective communication, collaboration, and adaptability in overcoming challenges and delivering a high-quality product.

What's next for Career Matchmaker

Ideally we want Career Matchmaker to be accessible to everyone other than Computer Science students, and we would like to use a NLM using large datasets. We would want companies to join in and for them to be able hire people on this website.
